OFFGRID STORAGE SHED TO HOUSE WASHING MACHINE
We are currently building an offgrid storage
shed to house the new inverter and the batteries
which should be completed soon.
We laid 2" X 6" pressure treated lumber on 2" patio blocks
and leveled them with left over sheets of roofing
material which helps them not slide. We made "L" shape
sill to rest the 2" X 6" floor joists.
Then laid 3/4" tongue and groove plywood floor.
I kind of lost my straight line and missed a few
times with the nail gun.
The walls of the offgrid storage shed are 2" X 4", 16" on center. The sheathing
is T1-11 which comes with a primer already on it.
By this time we had bought the framing nail gun so
the sheathing went up pretty fast. We put two double
pain windows that open on the south side of the
storage shed. The roof rafters are 2" X 6" with
exterior grade OSB. These we attached directly to
the side of the house.
I put up the asphalt felt by myself. I am afraid
of heights so it was pretty scarey for me and of
coarse it was very windy the day I decided I could
do it. I am so glad no one was there to watch. It was sort of pathetic. It took me four hours but I got through it
and the views from the roof were incredible. It was nailed down with roofing nails and tin cap discs in 9 ft sections overlapped edges by 4 inches. Then the drip edging was nailed on all four sides. It is a metal edging.
I stapled the insulation R-13 between the studs
as well as the ceiling. I left the 2 x 4s showing
so that I could see them to put up shelves.
Ron finished nailing down the rolled roofing and tared our off the grid storage shed.
A 9 inch border of asphalt rolled roofing was laid around the perimeter. Then the rolled roofing was nailed and Henry's 203 Cold Ap Roof Build up Roofing Cement was applied at each overlapping joint.
The vertical overlap was 6 inches and the horizontal overlap was 4 inches. Some people do not nail down the asphalt roofing but again we get gusty winds here, it is added protection.
There are several different kinds of rolled roofing each with its own installation instructions which need to be followed.
