OFFGRID HOUSE PLANS
THE DESIGN PHASE

For our offgrid house plans, I bought a computer program to help with the design. I needed to learn how to use the program which took me a little while. Then I needed to modify everything because most programs like this were for stick built homes.

The only part of the program that I really had difficulty with was the roof design. But that was because I didn't understand the different styles of roofs.

I designed and redesigned and redesigned for about a year. The computer program allowed me a way of arranging furniture, sizes and number of the rooms and their location. I originally wanted pariput walls but Ron was concerned about water leakage if we did not get the slopes correct. So we changed the roof to a shed roof.

I was glad to have this program and the time to make changes as my circumstances were changing at that time.

The 3 D view of the floor plan allowed me to move or take down walls, doors, windows, and furniture. I did not use the outer landscape part of the design.
