I found some of the hard to find toys for large dogs like the large Jolly Ball at Extraordinary gifts at PetSmart.com, PLUS Free Shipping!. I am always looking for safe toys for my large dogs. I did get a large hard ball but once it got scraped up from my mastiff's nails, it tore up his legs above his paws and made him bleed. He doesn't bite through the Jolly Ball and it does not hurt him.

Hopefully people understand that English Mastiffs are slow to react. They need to process what is being asked of them and then they will respond.

When my mastiff was in basic training he was always the last dog to respond to any command. They used to have contests (which I thought was very unfair) as to which dog would respond first and they would get an extra treat.

My mastiff was always last, but he was however the most consistant to respond. He was the friendliest dog there, with other dogs as well as people. During his two months of training he also grew the fastest.

There are so many Mastiff Rescues with dogs that are 2-4 years of age. Many people do not realize how large a mastiff will get nor how much food he will eat. Normal vet bills for a mastiff can be very high.

Please before getting a mastiff, please be sure that this is the right dog for you and your family. My heart just breaks when I see how many dogs are being given up or abandoned.
