The Sight hounds were bred to:
- These dogs aided humans in hunting a variety of animals
such as gazelles, wolves, and small game
- Chase and wear down prey without
direction from humanes
- Companionship

Included in the Sight hound group are:
- Afghan Hound
- Basenjii
- Borzoi
- Greyhound
- Irish Wolfhound
- Saluki
Scottish Deerhound
- Whippet

Characteristics:
- Moderately active
- Aloof, reserved with strangers
- Very independent
- Do not usually bark

Potential Issues:
- Training challenges, tend to be stubborn
- Chases small animals
- Fear biting, snapping, touch shy
- Long-haired breeds require daily grooming
- Dental problems

The Scent hounds were bred to:
- Aid humans in in tracking prey by
using their noses without direct instruction
- Spend entire days running in fields
- Hunt in packs; communicate vocally
- Companionship

- Basset Hound
- Bloodhound
- Dachshund
- Elkhound
- Foxhound
- Rhodesian Ridgeback
- Beagle
- Coonhounds
- Characteristics:
- Very energetic
- Intensey vocal and social
- Tend to distract easily
- Can be stubborn
- Friendly with children and strangers

- Small animal chasing
- Roaming, escaping
- Incessant barking, baying
- Garbage picking, digging
- Housetraining challenges
